Experimental Models for Validating Technology

چکیده
E ffective software can mean software that is low cost, reliable, rapidly developed, safe, or has some other relevant attribute. To determine whether a particular technique is effective, we need a way to measure it. Merely saying that a technique is effective conveys no real information. Instead, we need measurements applied to each software attribute so we can say one technique is more or less effective than another. For some techniques, mapping from an effective attribute to a measurement scale is fairly straightforward. If “effective” means “low cost,” then cost of development would be such a measurement. For other attributes—such as reliability, safety, and security— measurements are not so easily taken. Measurements like the number of failures per day, errors found during development, or MTBF (mean time between failures) indicate reliability in hardware domains. For software, however, a count of the number of errors found during testing does not by itself indicate whether there are errors remaining to be found. Only refined experimentation can help determine that. Experimentation is a crucial part of attribute evaluation and can help determine whether methods used in accordance with some theory during product development will result in software being as effective as necCo m pu tin g Pr ac tic es

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Bottom Outlet Hydraulic Model
Using experimental models along with conducting numerical analysis have been widely used in performance recognition and optimization of hydraulic equipments. Numerical modeling has lower cost rather than experimental one; however practical tests are commonly used because of the hydraulic structure importance especially in dams. Meanwhile numerical methods could be used for future designs throug...
متن کاملEvaluation of Ultimate Torsional Strength of Reinforcement Concrete Beams Using Finite Element Analysis and Artificial Neural Network
Due to lack of theory of elasticity, estimation of ultimate torsional strength of reinforcement concrete beams is a difficult task. Therefore, the finite element methods could be applied for determination of strength of concrete beams. Furthermore, for complicated, highly nonlinear and ambiguous status, artificial neural networks are appropriate tools for prediction of behavior of such states. ...
متن کاملEvaluation of effects of operating parameters on combustible material recovery in coking coal flotation process using artificial neural networks
In this research work, the effects of flotation parameters on coking coal flotation combustible material recovery (CMR) were studied by the artificial neural networks (ANNs) method. The input parameters of the network were the pulp solid weight content, pH, collector dosage, frother dosage, conditioning time, flotation retention time, feed ash content, and rotor rotation speed. In order to sele...
متن کاملChallenges of Testing Business Process Models in Intra- and Inter-Organizational Context
In order to address the issue of complexity and changeability of business processes, as well as of the information technology used to implement these processes, business process models are used. Validating the functional correctness of such models is essential. Many approaches exist, that deal with validating the functional correctness of business process models in an intra-organizational conte...
متن کاملA Comparison Study on Various Finite Element Models of Riveted Lap Joint by the Use of Dynamic Model Updating
Till now, various models have been proposed in literature to simulate the behavior of riveted structures. In order to find the most accurate analytical method in modeling the dynamic behavior of riveted structures, a comparison study is performed on several of these models, in this research. For this purpose, experimental modal analysis tests are conducted on a riveted plate to verify the effic...
متن کاملProcess Improvement of Experimental Measurements Using D-optimal Models
In this paper, the application of D-optimal models, as an alternative to response surface models (RS models) for design of experiment (DOE) was examined. Two D-optimal models for tilt-rotors in the wind tunnel experiment, as a form of quadratic functions, were generated based on a chosen optimality criterion. This optimality criterion was used to generate the optimized sampled points in the des...
